Veterinary Endoscopy
for Minimally Invasive Procedures

Veterinary Endoscopy

Vaughn Road Veterinary Clinic offers the advanced diagnostic and surgical technology of endoscopy at our affiliate practice, Carriage Hills Animal Hospital. Minimally invasive endoscopy is used in the examination, biopsy, and treatment of specific conditions including inflammatory diseases, cancers, and ingested foreign objects.  We offer endoscopic procedures for our current patients and veterinary referrals.

Endoscopic Procedures

Endoscopy permits direct visual examination and biopsy of the gastrointestinal system through high-tech flexible fiber optics. The veterinarian inserts a long, flexible tube through existing orifices in the patient’s body.  A video chip and strobe light is mounted on the tip of the tube, to capture images and transmit them to a computer monitor.

This procedure allows us to precisely diagnose and treat diseases in the esophagus, oral cavity, colon, upper intestinal tract, and stomach. Endoscopic procedures are often used to remove foreign objects without the need for general surgery.

Uses for Veterinary Endoscopy

A variety of endoscopic procedures are commonly performed at Carriage Hills Animal Hospital including:

  • GI procedures—Colonoscopy, gastroscopy, and to diagnose cancer and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Respiratory procedures—Bronchoscopy and rhinoscopy to identify cancers, foreign bodies, and inflammatory diseases

CHAH veterinarians have a special interest and experience in performing these minimally invasive procedures. Learn more about the uses and benefits of endoscopy.
