Skilled Diagnosis of Illness & Injury
in Companion Animals

Veterinary Diagnostics

Vaughn Road Veterinary Clinic provides accurate diagnoses of pet illnesses and injuries. Our diagnostic department includes quality imaging technology and in-house laboratory services for speed and precision.

Diagnostic Services for Dogs & Cats

Our veterinarians are skilled at diagnosing a wide range of illnesses and injuries. The first step is a comprehensive exam for a preliminary assessment. Next, we may perform diagnostic tests based upon our initial findings. These tests help us make a determination about the source of the patient’s problem, and allow us to begin appropriate treatment as soon as possible.

Some of the diagnostic services available to our veterinary patients include the following:

  • Radiography (X-rays)—To evaluate cardiovascular, urinary, musculoskeletal, digestive, and reproductive systems
  • Ultrasound—To obtain detailed images in evaluating internal tissue such as the abdominal organs, the heart, and the reproductive system

Our in-house laboratory performs complete blood cell counts, full blood chemistries, urinalysis, and electrolyte analysis within minutes for immediate treatment response. For complex or unique laboratory testing, we use the services of a highly reputable, certified commercial veterinary laboratory.

Collaboration with Carriage Hills Animal Hospital

Our patients have access to minimally invasive procedures at our Carriage Hills location, including endoscopy and laparoscopy. This technology uses fiber optics to obtain visual access to internal organs and tissue including the colon, small intestine, stomach, esophagus, and nasal cavity. Laparoscopic surgery uses a rigid scope that is inserted through a small incision in the patient’s body for less trauma and more rapid healing after the procedure.

This collaboration with our affiliate practice also offers patient access to such services as contrast radiography, myelography, and MRI services, as well as a continuity of care unparalleled in Central Alabama. Many veterinarians in our region refer their complex cases to our veterinary practices for diagnostic and advanced services. Learn more about these veterinary referral services.
