Pet Dental Care

Vaughn Road Veterinary Clinic creates a personalized wellness plan for every patient, including a dental care protocol designed to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Pet dental care with regular exams and teeth cleaning helps prevent disease throughout a pet’s life.

Preventing Disease with Dental Care

Periodontal disease is a common problem for pets and can lead to bad breath, infections, and damage to major organs such as the heart and kidneys. Regular exams provide an early warning system for developing issues in your pet’s mouth. The exam allows us to address these problems before they have a major impact on your pet’s health.

We also offer advanced dental care such as tooth extractions and minor endodontic procedures. Surgical anesthesia and appropriate pain management is implemented with such procedures, as needed.

Professional Teeth Cleaning for Pets

Regular veterinary teeth cleaning is an essential part of your pet’s wellness plan.  Teeth cleaning and the dental exam are generally performed under anesthesia for the comfort and safety of your pet.

We thoroughly clean the teeth above and below the gum line using ultrasonic technology. Polishing each tooth creates a smooth surface that resists the buildup of plaque. We may also recommend fluoride treatments for some pets, to help strengthen tooth enamel and reduce any sensitivity.

Contact our clinic to schedule your pet’s dental appointment.

Home Dental Care for Pets

After the dental exam and teeth cleaning, our staff helps you develop a home dental care routine for your pet. We can also recommend dental care products specifically designed for your pet. Many of these items are offered for purchase at a reasonable price through our clinic pharmacy.

Learning to brush your pet’s teeth can be a challenge. To help you, we offer this AAHA teeth brushing guide.
